Overview
The nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has an exciting new opportunity in our Washington DC office to be the right-hand person to support the Vice President, Strategic Communications in the development, planning, and execution of comprehensive internal and external communication strategies to advance the AAP mission. In addition, this excellent writer will assist with implementing member, media, and crisis communication plans; promoting and supporting public policy and advocacy initiatives; and collaborating with AAP Public Affairs staff to align overall AAP messaging.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required, as well as, 3 years related experience in Communication required, including writing for various audiences.
Some travel and evening/work required.
Hybrid working arrangement of 40% on-site at our downtown office in Northwest DC.

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $79,866.53 - $84,303.70. Compensation decisions take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, business needs, and organizational policies. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
