EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, is searching for a Chief Digital Officer to lead our Digital team. The Chief Digital Officer is responsible for overseeing all digital and online fundraising efforts and creative programs, including social media and design. As Chief Digital Officer, you will lead a team in creating an energetic and cutting-edge online presence that grows our audience and raises funds to support our mission.

Essential Job Functions

  • Understands the organizational strategy and aligns email, digital content, SMS, and advertising activities to advance the mission
  • Develops realistic income projections and aggressive revenue targets and drives progress and accountability to these goals
  • Oversees an engaging email program that maximizes revenue for EMILYs List and our endorsed candidates
  • Responsible for growing our digital audience, including driving engagement on social media and the EMILYs List website
  • Ensures the website and digital platforms have up-to-date information about endorsed candidates
  • Maintains positive and productive working relationships with consultants, analytics partners, and web developer
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships internally, ensuring the flow of information to other departments is timely and consistent, particularly to the Development and Communications departments
  • Informs organizational leadership and the Board of Directors of fundraising, social media, and online campaigns, and department successes and challenges
  • Develops and manages the departmental budget and approves spending decisions, allocating resources in a fiscally responsible and strategic manner
  • Uses available information and consults with others to make decisions in a timely manner and assesses risk when strategic decisions are made
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Some business travel may be required

Qualifications 

  • At least 8 years of digital experience that includes running robust online fundraising and acquisition programs; formal leadership experience is preferred
  • Proven success developing a digital strategy that prioritizes fundraising, content, and growth
  • Creative and innovative thinker with deep knowledge of existing digital platforms and awareness of emerging technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities; experience as a direct supervisor or mentor supporting the performance and professional development of others is preferred
  • A self-starter skilled in problem-solving, prioritization, and time management
  • Comfortable holding others accountable to deadlines and desired outcomes
  • Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and relationships

The starting salary for this position is $200,000 on an annualized basis and comes with a comprehensive benefits package. Our office is based in Washington, DC. This position is based in the DC office with a hybrid schedule requiring at least 3 days per week in office.
